My own private island

My 8-hours-a-night-face-repair-sleep plan is not going so well this week, but I've got used to postpone things. Tomorrow I'll sleep more. A never-ending story. There were lots of caffeine applied to my veins today, so here I am, taking minute after minute of sleep away. But I can't resist.
A continuum to the previous post, in which I introduced you to my island of aesthetics musings. I feel like I've half-opened a lid to what I'd describe as an ultimate form of personal style, where a soft grunge blends with a delicate elegance. The above styling encompasses somewhat the golden mean which transposes some tones of rock and roll into what I interpret as a reserved, collar-based uniform. The key is threefold: trousers too skinny, shirt too long, jacket too short. I absolutely opt for this kind of silhouette, that at the same time embodies androgyny as a menswear fashion staple so well.
Beard is definitely a purposeful, edgy addition here. The cavemen at work may call me hipster, I don't mind. Having a genuine fashion mood for a tramp style is better than not having any kind of it at all. Speaking of hair, my haircut is refreshed here. As a justification I should add, I've done it all by myself. Not so sure if I'm proud of it though.
Now, sleep.

The perks of springtime

When I'm searching the corners of my old brain for a proper title for this series of self-portraits, jaw's anatomy is what pops out first. I guess it sounds more elegant than just a preview of the next outfit post soon to come. I'll elaborate more on the styling concept and structure in the following blog post. For now, just a 5-piece dose to avoid an overwhelming photo stream later.

I'm currently so content with the fact that for the recent weeks I've been able to switch my mood status from why is it already dark outside? into available for golden hours. I shot those after coming home from work, around 7 PM, and I guess what hides behind the shades is a vile picture of physical fatigue. But I don't mind, as long as the sun shines just above the horizon, giving that long-awaited warmth to the photographs.

I'm glad beyond measure that the dedicated readership of this blog grows, slowly but undoubtedly. I feel like apologizing for not posting three times a week, but as stronly as I'd love to, I blame the perpetual lack of time. If there was no Twitter with all those news and creative contents feeding me with unrealistic aspirations (who hasn't immersed themselves into dreaming of becoming Nick Marino?), I'd probably blog every day. But there are also moments like crying over the Grey's Anatomy season finale, dancing to the GIRLS soundtrack, giggling in front of the Jennifer Lawrence - Funny Moments YouTube videos or losing myself in Truman Capote's biography. These are important, too. And unimaginably time-consuming.

Delirium

To begin with, please forgive me the number of photos. The selection phase of the editing process is the longest one in my working specificity, not that I'm in love with all the takes, they just all look the same. So I add frames here and there and search for different body angles. Anyhow, the more editing, the faster progression, right?
Inspirations behind that shoot lie in sounds. Over three years ago I made a small music compilation of some lovely songs I was crazy about back in 2009. It's here, lately I've been recalling earnestly those happy moments. The darker tones put me in a peculiar state of delirium, while croaking crows reminded me of the green, northern landscapes from Game of Thrones, which I'm currently slightly obsessed about. (If you follow me on Twitter, you're probably already familiar with my tendencies of crying over the greatness of Daenerys and her dragons.) I thought I'd go black with the clothes I was feeling like wearing. So a week ago, on a cloudy, gloomy afternoon, I decided to mix some vintage parts with pieces from Zara and H&M. Always a good combination.
On a side note, realization of today: I sincerely love Sunday, but it makes me too lazy. I blame it, not my age, for not even being able to patiently see a 3-hour film, which was Giant. But my admiration of the Dean-Taylor-Hudson gang won't let me omit this showing. Postponed for some other day.

Rural classics

Normally, I'm rather in a hate relationship with the rural area I live in (for only one more month!) I prefer to contrast substantially with what I wear to the usually farm surroundings I find myself within. You need to trust my word, neither I have been, nor will ever be a farmer. But on this occasion, I decided to put on some classic pieces, like the simple, black bomber jacket from Zara. It's served me so well for many years now. The green plaid shirt, shine navy blue jeans and brogue boots, together with the belt and strap bracelet, are all from H&M.

The Room, addendum

A sort of sequel to yesterday's post, more results of what happens when I'm left home alone. And an actual excuse to post another brilliant piece gracing the soundtrack of the loudly upcoming Baz Luhrmann's film.
